With a team of talented designers, we have both youth and experience on our side to create groundbreaking kitchens - but we’re not resting on our laurels.

As our name suggests, Kitchen Design Centre are a company that puts design at the forefront of everything we do.

Established over 25 years ago, we continue to thrive thanks to a talent-led ethos and a creative team that works closely with clients to formulate a plan that is practical on every level, but aesthetically appealing too, to create the unique kitchens for which we have become renowned for.

Founded by Roger Astin in the 1980s, Kitchen Design Centre now has three showrooms in Blackburn, Manchester and Colne, which have all been recently updated - with 19 displays featuring the latest German and English-made cabinets, top-of-the-range Neff appliances and stunning accessories.

The relationship between designer and client is paramount to our team, who are constantly updating their skills with training courses in Germany and London to ensure they have up-to-the-minute information and knowledge of their vast product range.

As managing director and one of the design team himself, Roger enjoys nurturing new talent to create a vital mix of youthful freshness blended with experience.

“The design of a kitchen is the most important part of a project and we love design. All of our eight designers come from interiors backgrounds. Our young designers are always pushing the boundaries and that, combined with our experience, makes for a great combination. “We are passionate about design and that’s why we are always one step ahead. The process we utilise is unique – many try to copy us but they haven’t succeeded,” explains Roger.

The secret to our success is largely down to this unique process – each designer also acts as project manager giving the customer a single point of contact throughout the creation of their kitchen.

“If too many people are involved, the process is diluted – we have trained our designers to project manage without any other distractions. “They are the ones with the face to face contact liaising initially with the client, builders, installers and as the designer has been involved from day one, they are able to implement what has been agreed – as a result our clients get the end project that they want and expect,” says Roger.

“We are true kitchen specialists and have resisted the temptation to diversify, which means that we live and breathe kitchens and are able to take on as much or as little as a customer requires, from simply supplying cabinets to working on extensive kitchen projects including building work etc."

As robust as ever, despite tough economic times, we have reported an 18 per cent growth year on year. The majority of our work is generated through word of mouth and recommendations that have brought us more than 250 kitchen commissions every year for the past 25 years - from clients throughout the UK.

“80 per cent of our work is from referrals so we must be doing something right.”

Ever since our company began, we have emulated the high-end specialists and, by retaining our quality but keeping costs down, we have enjoyed enduring success – combining the highest quality with middle sector pricing where possible.

The majority of our contemporary cabinets are produced for us in Germany while our traditional cabinetry is made on a more bespoke basis here in the UK.

And as a Neff Supreme Master partner, Kitchen Design Centre is the flagship company for the world-renowned appliance manufacturer, by far the largest built in appliance brand in the UK.

Roger concludes: “Our aim is quite simply to provide the most upmarket kitchens but with project costs that more clients can afford or find acceptable. We don’t believe in compromise."
